At Keith Valley Middle School (KVMS) our students are introduced to many new technologies.  We believe that twenty-first century skills are essential for students to become life-long learners. This fall we introduced web 2.0 applications including Microsoft Office Live Workspace and the decision-engine Bing to our sixth grade students. 

The theme of the lessons focused on the design and selection of a new mascot for our middle school. Students used Microsoft Word to brainstorm ideas and write letters to the principal, PowerPoint to create presentations promoting their mascot idea and Excel to create charts from surveys supporting their mascot choice. Microsoft Office Live Workspace was used to create, add and share their projects. Students will continue to use these tools throughout the school year.
